FAQs
Before the Workshop
I drink water every day—what makes a tasting workshop different?
1
Just like wine, coffee, or chocolate, natural mineral waters vary dramatically based on their geological journey. In this workshop, you will learn how to taste waters by their mineral composition (TDS - Total Dissolved Solids), mouthfeel, hardness, and effervescence, transforming a daily habit into a mindful sensory experience.
Do I need any prior knowledge about water or sommelier skills?
2
None at all! Whether you are a total beginner or a seasoned foodie/wellness practitioner, the session is designed to be interactive, accessible, and deeply experiential. You’ll be guided step-by-step through how to evaluate each water.
What should I wear or prepare beforehand?
3
Aroma & Palate: We kindly ask participants to avoid wearing heavy perfumes or strong essential oils, as a clean sense of smell is essential for fully appreciating subtle mineral notes.
Dietary Note: If the workshop includes a food-pairing component, please let us know of any severe food allergies when registering so we can accommodate your bites.
During the Workshop
Is water tasting just about "tasting plain water"? How do they actually taste different?
1
You might be surprised! Water is never truly "flavorless." Depending on the underground rock formations it filters through, water can pick up calcium, magnesium, sodium, silica, and bicarbonate. This creates distinct tactile profiles—ranging from silky, sweet, and velvety to crisp, dense, or pleasantly metallic/saline.
At what temperature is the water served?
2
Water is typically served at room temperature. This is the optimal temperature range to unlock the full expression of minerals and mouthfeel without numbing your taste buds, which happens when water is iced.
Are we going to be drinking a lot of water all at once?
3
While you will taste a curated flight of 4 to 6 distinct international mineral waters, you only take small sips (about 20–30ml per pour) using proper tasting techniques—similar to a wine-tasting flight. There will also be plain palate cleansers and light bites available.
After the Workshop
How can I apply what I learned at home or when dining out?
1
You will walk away with practical culinary pairing concepts, and learn how to read water bottle mineral labels (TDS) at supermarkets… and more… (no spoiler.)
Will I be able to purchase the waters we taste during the workshop?
2
Yes! We provide a curated sourcing guide of where to find these premium international natural mineral waters, so you can stock your home hydration bar.
